CHEMICAL DISASTER

How do I stay safe if there is a chemical disaster?

Chemical agents are poisonous gases, liquids or solids that have toxic effects on people, animals or plants. They can be released by bombs, sprayed from aircraft and boats, and used to contaminate air, food and water supplies.

Evacuation or shelter in place orders may be given by local authorities. Gas masks and protective clothing may help in some cases. These items cannot protect you from contaminated food or water. Not all such gear sold today is fit for protection. Learn before you buy.
