CONDITIONALLY EXEMPT SMALL QUANTITY GENERATOR (CESQG)
What is a "Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generator" or "CESQG"?
• A CESQG is a business concern that meets the following criteria:
• Disposes of less than 1 kilogram of RCRA acutely hazardous waste, or
• A combined total of 100 kilograms or less of RCRA hazardous waste, in any calendar month; and
• Maintains compliance with Section 261.5 of Title 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations.
Is there any difference between a CESQG and other non-household generators of hazardous waste?
The chief difference between a CESQG and other non-household generators of hazardous waste is that a CESQG is allowed, under certain conditions, to transport their hazardous waste to household hazardous waste collection opportunities. Hazardous waste is only accepted from CESQG at household hazardous waste collection facilities or events that have received authorization to receive hazardous waste from these generators.
Are there any restrictions?
Yes, due to permit restrictions, Used Oil and Universal Waste are the only hazardous wastes accepted from non-household generators. See information listed under Used Oil below and for each type of universal waste to determine recycling opportunities offered to non-households.
