EVERY WOMAN COUNTS
What is the "Every Woman Counts" Program?
Tulare County works with the State of California's Every Woman Counts Program to provide diagnostic services for breast and cervical cancer for those women who are low-income. We want to make these services available to all who need them.
Can I still get breast and cervical exams if I don't have insurance?
Our cancer detection program, Every Woman Counts gives low-income women access to screening and diagnostic services for breast and cervical cancer. The goal of the program is to reduce breast and cervical cancer mortality rates in this under-served population of California women. We offer screening and diagnostic services, and provide follow-up services for women with possible diagnoses of breast and/or cervical cancer, including referral for treatment when necessary.
This program is designed to help women who have no health insurance, Medi-Cal or Medicare (or if you have a high share of cost you may still be eligible). Finding and treating cancer early means survival. Many women do not realize that if you are 25 years or older you should have a yearly pap smear, and if you are 40 years or older you need a yearly clinical breast exam and mammogram. We have clinic locations in Visalia, Tulare, Dinuba, Lindsay, Farmersville and Porterville. Please contact Tulare County Health & Human Services Agency at 559-737-4660, x2317 (559-733-6611 for Spanish language) or 1-800-834-7121 for more information about eligibility or an application.
