JUVENILE FORENSICS

What are the services of the Juvenile Forensics Unit?

Services provided by the Juvenile Forensics Unit include mental health evaluations, alcohol and drug evaluations, crisis intervention, psychiatric evaluations, medication services, case management, supportive counseling, and alcohol and drug education and recovery groups. The emphasis of treatment is symptom reduction, behavior management, safety and comfort, corrective thinking, and alcohol and drug education.

The services are provided by a multi-disciplinary team including licensed therapists, case managers, alcohol and drug specialists, and a child psychiatrist. The team works closely with the Probation Department, Medical Department, Crisis Response Team, and outpatient children's mental health clinics to ensure that the minor's needs are met and that necessary mental health services are provided for the minor once released from incarceration. The team has several bilingual bi-cultural staff and services are available in both English and Spanish
