Child Welfare
Tulare County Child Welfare Service exists to ensure the Health, Safety and Well-Being of Tulare County Children and Families. Tulare County CWS provides a variety of services to assist and promote the ultimate goal of maintaining health and safety within family units.

How can CWS help?
Child Welfare Services can assist in providing preventative services when health and safety issues begin to occur. Research has shown that the best option is always for families to stay together, and CWS is dedicated to help familes achieve stability and safety, always making sure children are protected from abusive and potentially harmful situations.
What services do they provide?
CWS services are provided through seven various programs throughout the County.
Some of the core service description are:
- Emergency Response takes reports of suspected child abuse or neglect, investigates these reports and provides crisis intervention services.
- Family Maintenance provides time-limited services to prevent or remedy neglect, abuse or exploitation in an attempt to prevent separation of children from their families.
- Family Reunification provides time-limited foster care for children while services are provided to try to reunite the family.
- Permanency Planning provides and maintains an alternate permanent family structure (adoption, guardianship or long-term foster care).
