Children's Mental Health Services

The Tulare County Mental Health Plan establishes the mental health services to be provided to qualifying children, adolescents and adults who are residents of Tulare County.

The Children's System of Care is organized around two children's contract providers and one children's clinic operated by Tulare County Mental Health. These contractors are part of the Tulare County Mental Health Plan. Children and Youth contract providers offer a wide range of services including case management, individual and group therapy, family therapy, day treatment, medication support and psychiatric counseling.

Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS)

The Tulare County Children's providers also offer Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS) for Medi-Cal eligible Children and Youth. TBS is a mental health service that provides short-term, one-to-one assistance to children or youth under age 21 who have behaviors that are too hard for their families or foster placement to handle. Such behaviors may include, but not be limited to, tantrums, aggressive or violent behavior or destruction of property. TBS can be provided to children or youth at home, in a group home, in the community, or at school, during evenings and weekends.
