Public Health Nursing
Mission: Tulare County Public Health Nursing focuses on the health and disease prevention of the entire population reflecting community priorities and needs.
Tulare County Public Health Nurses:
- Establish caring relationships with families and individuals and assess the physical, mental, emotional, social and environmental aspects of health promotion and disease prevention.
- Collaborate with individuals, families and available community resources to develop and implement a plan of care to ensure optimal health and developmental outcomes.
- Are involved with families with infants who are at higher risk for illness or developmental delays due to premature birth, drug exposure or other birth events.
- Help prevent the spread of communicable diseases such as tuberculosis, salmonella, e-coli, meningitis and H1N1 by case management, medication administration and monitoring, contact investigation and client, family and community education.
- Practice the HHSA purpose and philosophy with compassion and is sensitivity to diversity and respects the population of Tulare County.
