Welfare-To-Work Teen Parent Program

Welfare-To-Work Teen Parent Program (WTW TPP) is a mandatory program for all pregnant and parenting teens (under the age of 20) who are receiving CalWORKs and do not have a high school diploma or its equivalent.

 

WTW TPP assists teens in obtaining their high school diploma or equivalent.  The teen may be eligible to receive the following Supportive Services:

  • Ancillary expenses that include but are not limited to, school books, GED testing costs, laboratory fees, and supplies required by the school program

  • Child care
  • Transportation


WTW TPP participants are eligible for bonuses after completing 90 days in the program:

  • BONUS of $100 is paid to the CalWORKs case payee when the teen submits a report that shows satisfactory school attendance and progress ( “C” 2.0 GPA or greater). (Maximum of 4 bonuses per year.)
  • BONUS of $500 is paid directly to the teen when he/she obtains a high school diploma or its equivalent, prior to or within the month he/she turns 20 years old. (Note: In the period when a $500 Bonus is granted teen is not eligible for the $100 bonus.)
