Water Well Drilling and Permit Requirements

To drill, recondition, deepen or destroy a water well, the contractor must possess an active C-57 license required by the Business and Professions Code of the State of California.

However, if a homeowner has a 2 inch point driven well on his property that needs to be destroyed, the homeowner is allowed to destroy the point well but must still obtain a permit and set-up an inspection with our office.

An inspection is required by our office for the following:

1.  The annular space on a public domestic well (2 connections/homes or more)

2.  Dairy supply well

3.  Industrial well

4.  Abandonment of all water wells

5.  Any other operation stipulated on the permit by the county to deal with special or unusual conditions.

An inspection must be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance and are available Monday through Thursday between the hours of 7:00 am and 5:30 pm.
