Community Health Center Board

What is the Community Health Center Board?

The Tulare County Health Care Centers provide health care to patients who may not otherwise be able to receive affordable medical care. The Community Health Center Board helps determine the rules under which the three Health Care Centers operate.

What do board members do?

Being a member of the Community Health Center Board helps to give patients a voice in how their Health Care Centers are run. Board members are able to share their ideas on the services the Health Care Centers provide, the hours they are open, and how much money it takes to run them. All the information you need is provided for you at monthly meetings.

Do I have to be a patient at one of the Health Care Centers to be on the Board?

You can be a patient, a caregiver to a patient, or someone in the community who's interested in learning more about how the County Health Care Centers are run. The Board is made up of people who share the interests of the patients we serve. Board members who are Health Care Centers patients will also receive $30 for every meeting they attend to help cover costs such as transportation and child care.

Do I need to have any special education or skills to be on the Board?

No, we need people from our community to give a voice to those we serve. Share your own experiences in our Health Care Centers and those of people you know.

Where and when are board meetings held?

Meetings are held from noon to 1 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month at the Visalia District Office in Visalia. Lunch is provided.

How do I apply to be on the board?

You can get an application from the manager at any one of our Health Care Center Locations or you can call 559-624-8480.
