Health Communities and Support Groups
Recent research finds that Americans are more socially isolated than ever before, and low levels of social support are associated with increased risk of death from cardiovascular disease, cancer, and other infectious diseases. Although the pathway for these risks is not clear, this research also finds that any type of positive social connection and social support has health benefits.
Well-being is a community issue that takes a community to address and it is our mission to provide resources so the people in Tulare County can create sustainable healthy lifestyle changes through education, promotion of healthy lifestyles, and research for disease and injury prevention.Through this page we would like to encourage and promote local health-related social support groups available in our county.
Organizations, non-profit community groups, professionals, and other community members who provide support groups that are open to the community are welcome to submit details of their group below. Once you have submitted this information we will contact you if we need additional details and before we make the information available on this website.
