Tulare County Healthy For Life
Tulare County Healthy for Life is an expanded coalition based on the Healthy for Life activities in Earlimart and Pixley, originally funded by the California Endowment as part of the Central California Regional Obesity Prevention project. As a result of the successes already experienced, Tulare County Department of Public Health will participate in a new phase of obesity prevention activities to benefit the entire county by expanding the coalition through three countywide initiatives:
Healthy Students Initiative (HSI) targets the county’s large young population (30% under age 18) and aims to impact the high rates of obesity among school age children.
Healthy Neighborhood Initiative aims to provide access to healthy, affordable foods/beverages and safe places for physical activity throughout Tulare County.
Healthy Worksite Initiative aims to improve worksite environments to support healthy eating, physical activity, and breastfeeding accommodation.
Each of these three initiatives will support the basics.

We also recognize that many members of the community will have valuable expertise and insight to contribute, Tulare County Healthy For Life utilizes an "open" task force structure. This structure allows for broader participation by interested community members in the work groups.
