Maternal, Child & Adolescent Health
Mission: To protect, improve and optimize the health and well-being of women, infants and children in Tulare County.
Goals:

Improve the health and well-being of women, infants children and their families
- Promote equity by reducing health status disparities among racial/ethnic groups, socioeconomic classes or geographic area
- Enhance preconception care to improve infant and maternal morbidity and mortality
- Promote healthy lifestyle practices among Maternal, Child and Adolescent population and reduce the rate of overweight children and adolescents
The Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health (MCAH) programs are a division of Public Health in Tulare County.
The following is an alphabetic list of programs within MCAH:
- Adolescent Family Life Program (AFLP) - ALFP provides a variety of supportive services to teens under the age of 19 who are pregnant or already have a child.
- Cal-Learn (CLRN) - CLRN provides supportive services and money reimbursements to teens under the age of 19 who have not graduated from high school and are receiving cash assistance.
- Comprehensive Perinatal Services (CPSP) - giving your baby a healthy start
- High Risk Infant (HRI) & Medically Vulnerable Infant Program (MVIP) - HRI is focused on "high risk infants" falling within the 0-3 age group, while MVIP serves babies that have special medical needs.
- Nurse Family Partnership (NFP) - helps change the lives of vulnerable first-time moms and their babies through ongoing home visits from registered nurses.
- Outreach for Healthy Pregnancy - focusing on women of childbearing age
- Prenatal Substance Exposure Program - focusing on pregnant woman who are identified as having a baby at risk for alcohol or other drug exposure
- Women Infant Children (WIC) - a nutrition program that helps pregnant women, new mothers and young children eat well and stay healthy.
