Why Be Prepared?
Disaster can strike swiftly and without warning and can force us to leave our homes or be confined to them for several days. The Tulare County Health and Human Services Agency has been working closely with local agencies and emergency response teams to ensure the highest level of response in the event of a terrorist attack or other public health threat. Disaster workers will provide rapid assistance in the event of an emergency, but they cannot reach everyone right away.
Do you know what your family would do if basic services, such as water, gas, electric or telephones were not available? How will your family find each other if disaster strikes? By answering these questions and putting together the necessary supplies, your family will be more prepared for a disaster and will be able to more easily cope with the effects of disaster. Knowing what to do is your best protection and your responsibility.
