Our Mission:
The mission of our Data Analysis unit is to support the work of the Tulare County Public Health Department with timely, accurate, user-friendly, comprehensive health data that will facilitate its use for public health assessment, policy development, and program planning and evaluation.
Key activities of our Analysis Unit include:
* Standardize and make available data on demographics, childhood overweight, hospital discharge diagnoses, health-related quality of life, and other indicators of community health.
*Provide epidemiology support and training among Department programs and offices and community partners, especially toward chronic disease prevention and where such capacity does not currently exist.
*Collect, analyze and share information about health conditions, risks and resources for county residents.
*Centralize technology, training, and resources for data collection and analysis including Geographic Information Systems (GIS) within the Department.
*Standardize and make available data on demographics, childhood overweight, hospital discharge diagnoses, health-related quality of life, and other indicators of community health.
*. Participate in the conduct of special studies and projects, especially those that integrate efforts among Department programs and offices and community partners

Neighborhood Place-Based Approach
Our outreach, planning, and education activities support neighborhood improvement efforts by working with City, County and community partners to:
* Design community surveys to identify problems, solutions and resources.
* Analyze and interpret survey results.
* Organize presentations and forums to discuss survey results and plan action

The site includes data, survey results, listings of local resources, and links to related websites, along with a "reading room" of news stories and research studies on key issues. County Health RankingsA collaboration between the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute, has produced the first-ever nationwide County Health Rankings. The Rankings show how counties measure up within each state in terms of how healthy people are, how long they live, and how important factors affect their health, such as tobacco use, obesity, access to healthcare, education, community safety, and air quality.
