TOBACCO

Give the gift of love this holiday season. Download one of our gift certificates and join a free quit smoking class. If your New Year's resolution is to quit smoking, you're in luck! The Tulare County Health & Human Services Agency Tobacco Control Project will offer free cessation classes, beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at Prevention Services, 132 N. Valley Oaks Drive. The program, a seven-week course, meets for 90 minutes one night a week. During the first three meetings, facilitators help motivate smokers to quit, help them build a foundation, and have them choose a quit date.

What does the Tobacco Control Project do?

The Tobacco Control Project works throughout the County to reduce the use of tobacco products and raise awareness of health problems associated with tobacco use. Our staff provides the residents of Tulare County information on how to prevent tobacco use, assistance to stop-smoking, and updates on current laws that are in place to make our environment smoke-free.

What about recent tobacco law violations?

The Tobacco Program receives and processes complaints of violations of the smoke-free workplace/bar law (Labor Code Section 6404.5), and the merchant sales of tobacco to minor's law (Penal Code Section 308[a]). For more information please contact 559-733-6123.
